Mr. Nixon has held a number of directorships in companies across Canada and the United States. Prior to co-founding Midlake, Mr. Nixon was Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Private Equity at MDS Capital Corp., an institutional venture capital company with assets in excess of $1 billion under management. At MDS, Mr. Nixon was a member of the investment committee that presided over all investments and divestments and was responsible for special projects including the formation of Vengate Capital Partners, an investment banking boutique focused on mergers and acquisitions and structured finance.
Before MDS, Mr. Nixon was Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration, at Kinetek Pharmaceuticals (sold to QLT Inc. in 2004) and Vice President Finance and CFO at Inex Pharmaceuticals from its inception through an initial public offering. In addition, Mr. Nixon was Vice President, Corporate Finance and Manager of Private Equity at Burns Fry Limited (now BMO Nesbitt Burns), a leading Canadian investment firm, and Vice President of Canadian Enterprise Development Corporation, an institutionally backed venture capital firm focused on diverse investments.
Mr. Nixon received his M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario and Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary.
